FEE SCHEDULE – ADOPTED 6/9/2011

Why pay for garbage collection service when you can do it yourself?

The town recycle center has three dumpsters that can support the towns weekly garbage disposal needs.  There is a nominal fee when you dispose of your trash at the recycle center but it is certainly less expensive than paying a service to collect it.  Give it a try.  We know you will like the service.  Remember, this service is only available on Saturdays.

Yard Waste?  No problem.  The recycle center accepts your grass clippings, brush, branches, leaves FREE of charge.   There are disposal areas behind the recycle center building.

Used Motor Oil?  Yes.  We take that too.  Only on Saturdays please.  Free.

Oil Filters?  Yes.  Free.

Antifreeze?  Absolutely.  Only on Saturdays please.  $0.75 per gallon.

Paint?  Yes.  $1.00 per can.  If the paint can is dry, we throw it in the dumpster.

Light Bulbs / Condescent Light Bulbs?  Yes.

Batteries?  Yes.

Additionally the recycle center accepts aluminum, glass, newspaper, tin, plastic, oil paint and cardboard.

Scott is usually there every week to help you sort through your recycle materials.  If you need help just yell for Scott!

* DNR UPDATE

New law keeps oil filters and absorbents out of landfills

Beginning January 1, 2011 used automotive engine oil filters and oil absorbent materials are banned from Wisconsin landfills.

No individual or group is exempt. The ban applies to everyone in the state including individuals, farmers, businesses, commercial or industrial facilities and other organizations.

The new law, 2009 Wisconsin Act 86 [exit DNR] was passed in 2009 to promote oil recycling and protect the environment.

As you may have heard, on October 23, 2009 Governor Doyle signed Wisconsin's electronics recycling bill, SB107, into law. The law requires manufacturers of certain electronic devices to provide and pay for recycling a specified amount of electronics from WI households and K-12 public schools each year. It will go into effect January 1, 2010. Watch for more information to come!

RECYCLING IS ON THE UPSWING!

According to Cynthia Moore, DNR Program Coordinator, "The economy may still be down, but recycling is on the upswing, or so it seems from the amount of activity in Wisconsin." The Ashippun Recycling Center and the Town of Ashippun are working hard to get the word out that Recycling is REQUIRED. Did you know that the town turns in ALL of the recycleables that are turned into the Center? This means extra revenue for the town! So, keep up the good work and let your neighbors know about the Recycling Center.
